[HumanRights] Snowflake

From Palestine we send our deepest condolences to Brendan Cox and all the
family of the murdered British labor party MP Jo Cox. We will greatly miss
this colleague and friend of oppressed people around the world. She
believed in humanity and in caring (this is something unusual in
politicians). We cannot help but draw a contrast between her and someone
like Hilary Clinton who was challenged by Bernie Sander to even mention the
suffering of Palestinians under occupation.   Jo’s murder is not being
called terrorism by Zionist controlled media because her killer is a racist
white person who supported Israel. The best thing we can do to honor Jo is
to redouble our efforts for peace and justice. For those apathetic about
the rise of nationalism and fundamentalism (all by the use of security as
an excuse), please think of how World Wars were stated and the devastation
they caused. It was not bad leaders but an acquiescent public. Bad leaders
are everywhere and even here under occupation we have collaborating leaders
who normalize with apartheid and who accept injustice on their people as
long as they themselves are well fed and well groomed and well-traveled
with VIP cards.  But history tells us that names like Rachel Corrie and Jo
Cox will always be honored while their names will be either forgotten or
swept in the dustbin of history.

“Tell me the weight of a snowflake,” a coalmouse asked a wild dove.
“Nothing more than nothing,” was the answer. “In that case I must tell you
a marvellous story,” the coalmouse said. “I sat on the branch of a fir,
close to its trunk, when it began to snow – not heavily, not in a raging
blizzard: no, just like a dream, without a sound and without any violence.
Since I did not have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes
settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was exactly
3,741,952. When the 3,741,953rd dropped onto the branch – nothing more than
nothing, as you say – the branch broke off.” Having said that, the
coalmouse flew away. The dove, since Noah’s time an authority on the
matter, thought about the story for a while, and finally said to herself:
“Perhaps there is only one person’s voice lacking for peace to come to the
world.” From “New Fables, Thus Spoke the Marabou” by Kurt Kauter
