MAFF 2nd Day: Industry Days kicks-off and diverse activities
The second day of the Malmö Festival: Launch of Industry Days and a variety of screenings and activities.

On the second day of the 14th Malmo Arab Film Festival, various activities were included, from screenings to seminars and professional meetings, all of which witnessed wide attendance from the audience of Malmo city and the festival’s guests from Arab cinema industry professionals, journalists, and critics.
The second day started with great momentum in the morning with the opening of the 10th edition of the Malmo Industry Days, the festival’s industry arm, which runs from April 23 to 26, 2024. Immediately after the opening, sessions began presenting the projects participating in and competing for awards, including five feature film projects and three short films in the development stage, held at the Scandic Hotel. Additionally, six feature film projects in the post-production stage, including narrative and documentary films, were presented at Panora Cinema.
The evening period witnessed a popular turnout for screenings of the feature films participating in the official competition.
At 6:00 PM, the first screening began in Panora1 Cinema for the film “Inshallah Boy,” directed by Amjad Al-Rasheed and produced by (Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, France, Qatar). After the screening, the audience had the opportunity to meet the director Amjad Al-Rasheed, followed by a discussion session with him.
Meanwhile, Panora 2 a screening at 6:30 PM of the film “The Mother of All Lies” by Moroccan director Asmae El Moudir, who was present and engaged with the audience in a discussion after the screening.
At 8:30 PM in Panora1, the screening of the film “The Teacher” by Palestinian director Farah Nabulsi, produced by (UK, Palestine, Qatar), began.
At 9:00 PM, at Panora 2, screened the film “Behind the Mountain” by Tunisian director Mohamed Ben Attia, produced by (Tunisia, France, Belgium, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Qatar).
In Umeå, northern Sweden, the first screenings of the Arab Nights took place, featuring the film “Night Courier,” produced in 2023 by Saudi director Ali Al-Kalthami.
In Helsingborg, southern Sweden, the second screening of the Arab Nights took place, featuring the film “Hawjan,” produced by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in 2023, directed by Iraqi director Yasir Alyasiri. The screenplay writer Yasser Bahjatt attended the screening and met with the audience afterward.
Key screenings and events for the third day, April 24, include continuing discussion sessions scheduled within the Malmo Industry Days, with the participation of a constellation of directors and screenwriters. The festival’s screenings of competition films and Arab Nights also continue, featuring films like “Night Courier,” “Four Daughters,” “Under the Damascus Sky,” and the film “Fireworks” within the Arab Nights in Malmo. In Gothenburg, the film “Yesterday After Tomorrow,” directed by Abdulghani Alsaigh, will be screened as part of the Arab Nights as well.
